l'artos mediterranean restaurant
L'artos is a family restaurant based in Rhodes, Greece. It has a decades long history and was reopened in 2023 with a new concept by the granddaughter of the original owner and her husband (how cool is that?!?)
We all know that you eat with your eyes first!—so this restaurant needed a holistic visual identity that could translate across collateral and—most importantly—that reflects its unique story, character and values, and matches the quality of the culinary experience it offers.
The beautiful building that houses L’artos was built in 1939 by the original owner, and is a big part of its history and identity—which is why I used its iconic entrance for the logomark, as well as the facade of the building as a separate brand icon.
The visual identity of the restaurant is clean, earthy and contemporary, but at the same time it doesn't forget the traditional values of the island.
passion projects
The works below are briefs, aka concepts of imaginary businesses that I designed for fun (and to showcase more of the design styles I love doing of course! wink wink nudge nudge)
kombrew: a kombucha brand
Kombucha is sugared tea that has been fermented, so it is naturally effervescent. It's also said to have a lot of health benefits. With this in mind I designed a brand that leans into the concept of healthy and delicious. At the same time, the visuals are bold and colorful so that the product stands out on the shelves and looks tasty and refreshing. For the packaging I hand-drew the illustrations in a style inspired by linocut prints, which alludes to the handcrafted nature of the drink.
bloom: a plant-based milk brand
Bloom is a plant-based dairy brand, targeted at vegans and environmentally conscious young people.
With the age of the target audience in mind I designed a brand that is quirky, colorful and cute.
For the visual identity I decided on an organic, handdrawn style, did custom lettering for the logo, as well as handdrawn doodle illustrations that I turned into a pattern.
paros: a premium greek olive oil brand
I wouldn't be a Greek if I didn't do a Greek-inspired brief now would I... ANYWAY
This is a family-owned olive grove in Paros, Greece, that's been producing high-quality extra virgin olive oil for generations. They take pride in their sustainable farming practices and hand-picked olives, that ensures their olive oil is pure, natural, and free from additives. Their mission is to share the taste of Greece with the world, one bottle at a time.
For this brand's visuals I wanted to evoke the high quality of the product, as well as reflect Greek values. I used a classy serif font for the logotype, and paired it with a modern sans serif for the tagline. For the logomark I wanted to represent Greece and in this case specifically the island of Paros. The olive tree represents, of course, the grove and the company; the olive replaces the sun as a symbol of life; and the blue-dome church which is found over the Cyclades island complex, represents the island of Paros, as well as the traditional values which are commonly part of Greek culture.
